2003's CCHOAA WINNER

A past State Director of Florida AARP, and a member of several Florida Statewide Legislative Task Forces, Dr. Godleski came to Florida from New Jersey after more than 30 years devoted to education from elementary to administration, with a PhD from Rutgers and began a new career of advocacy and service to seniors.

Dr. Godleski has used his public education and administration skills to focus on telemedicine and  end-of-life care issues; he became a member of the Sarasota County Senior Advisory Council, served as President and now Trustee of Hospice of Southwest Florida. One can name several additional accolades but the judges believe most important is his passion for an end-of-life continuum of care that honors the dignity of each individual.

Clearly he is a thoughtful contributor to statewide public policy as well as an individual whose energy has impacted all seniors throughout Florida. From his participation with the Florida Bar Elder Lawyers and the Funeral Consumers Alliance to his commitment to “how to fix  seniors’ issues.”

C. Colburn Hardy, who spent most of his adult life in New Jersey, would have been humbled to meet and work with Dr. Stanley!

Several of the nominators of Dr. Godleski for this award wanted to make sure you knew: “…when Stanley speaks, people listen.”  And “We are better for knowing Stanley."

During the introduction, Mrs. Hardy said, “Dr. Stanley” shares my Father’s own final words when he wrote: “Hopefully, some of the projects in which I was involved helped to make the world a better place in which to work, to live, to love and have our being.”
