MacGyver Group Brokers Deal for CVTV Studios in Westpark Corporate Center

Spotsylvania County to Premiere Region’s First Independent Public Access Television Station

CVTV-HQSpotsylvania County, VA— MacGyver Group is pleased to announce the signing of a long term lease between Central Virginia Public Access Television Corporation, better known as CVTV, and Westpark, LLC for a 5,300 square foot space to house its new studios, production facilities, and corporate offices. The twelve-year term deal followed a multi-year search for the right combination of size, price, location, and setting for the startup television station and new media service.

MacGyver Group’s Real Estate Broker, Eric Martin, handled the transaction personally and is also overseeing the layout and construction designs to ensure his client receives the highest value for its time and budget.

Martin says, “It has been a long journey for this deal to happen. Fortunately our client has been flexible, patient, and very creative in balancing their practical needs with their aspirations. Real estate can be expensive just like new studio cameras and they needed both at the same time. Some great sponsors have stepped up to make the station’s launch possible, and we expect many more will jump on board now that there is a permanent roof over their heads.”

The landlord’s Managing Partner, Rob Borris said, “We’re very excited to have CVTV join our office park. Westpark enjoys a great mix of tenants including medical, real estate, government contractors, and professional services both big and small. We know they’ll fit right in and begin realizing the benefits of a convenient Route 3 location, and government program perks of being in a HUB-Zone. We have real estate properties in several states, but this is our first TV station and we can’t wait to see the benefits to the community start to take shape. We believe in this endeavor and encourage all our tenants and neighbors to support public access television. It’s the only television programming that’s both local and safe for the whole family to watch together.”

CVTV launched its first channel on Spotsylvania’s Comcast cable TV channel 2 late this summer and runs it out of temporary studios located at Career Training Solutions in Lee’s Hill Center; a deal also brokered by MacGyver Group. CVTV will soon be broadcast on its own channels on Verizon FiOS and COX Cable in Spotsylvania, The City of Fredericksburg, and Stafford County as soon as the specialized connections can be made.

Approximately 60 people are already involved in CVTV—all volunteers—who believe in the mission of educating and promoting the people, places, and events of Central Virginia. They film and report on local high school sports, political races, history, events, and a wide variety of interests for nearly 30 shows and growing. CVTV is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation, so contributions may be tax-deductible.
